OBRAMAT will cover circa. 30% of its annual electricity consumption with solar energy thanks to its agreement with NTR
- Solar farm will provide 100% renewable energy through a virtual solar PPA that will run for the next 10 years.
- The agreement involves 10,89 GWh of solar energy per year, generated at the Picón photovoltaic park (Ciudad Real), and injected directly into the national electricity grid.
- The initiative reinforces OBRAMAT’s commitment to sustainability and the energy transition, while boosting the development of local suppliers in the communities where it operates.
Madrid, 11 September 2025.- OBRAMAT, the leading retail company in the distribution of materials in the Construction and Renovation market, and NTR, an experienced partner in sustainable infrastructure investment and asset management, have signed an agreement that strengthens OBRAMAT’s commitment to the energy transition and the use of renewable energies.
Through this collaboration, carried out via a virtual solar Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), The Ciudad Real solar project will supply nearly 30% of OBRAMAT’s annual energy consumption in Spain with solar energy for the next 10 years. The agreement covers a volume of 10,89 GWh of solar energy per year, which will be generated at the photovoltaic park in Ciudad Real, owned by the L&G NTR Clean Power (Europe) Fund.
The L&G NTR Clean Power (Europe) Fund has invested in solar, onshore wind, offshore wind, and battery storage assets in Spain and five other European countries. The projects acquired to date will produce enough clean energy to supply 295,000 households per year, driving the energy transition in Europe. According to Jordi Riu (Head of Real Estate Development), “At OBRAMAT we aim to generate a positive impact in every place we operate. This agreement allows us to advance in our commitment to the environment, strengthening the economic fabric of the communities where we operate”.
Francisco del Río, Head of Power Sales at NTR, stated: “We are very excited to partner with OBRAMAT, a leader in construction and renovation materials, in this 10-year corporate virtual power purchase agreement. Corporate PPAs play an essential role both in achieving companies’ sustainability goals and in driving the energy transition in Spain and across Europe.”
Renewable energy with a Spanish seal
Thanks to the virtual solar PPA signed with the Ciudad Real solar park managed by NTR, OBRAMAT actively participates in the development of renewable infrastructures in Spain. The energy will be incorporated directly into the national electricity grid.
The agreement is also certified with Guarantees of Origin (GoOs) from the CNMC, ensuring that all the energy acquired is 100% renewable.
Lower impact every step of the way
OBRAMAT maintains its environmental commitment throughout its entire value chain: not only through agreements for the supply of 100% renewable energy in all its facilities, but also through energy efficiency measures and the production and consumption of renewable energies in its warehouses, thanks to rooftop photovoltaic installations. In addition, the company contributes to the circular economy through initiatives that reduce waste generation and ensure proper management, prioritizing recycling; and offers customers product ranges aimed at more sustainable and environmentally friendly construction.
A shared commitment
The negotiation of this supply agreement was carried out jointly with companies of the ADEO Group, such as Leroy Merlin, and others such as Carter-Cash, Midas, Norauto and Verdecora, thus reinforcing the shared commitment to sustainability and the energy transition.
