NTR Launches Foundation To Tackle Climate Change : March 05 2010

Irish Renewable energy group NTR yesterday launched a not-for-profit foundation that will provide funding and other support for climate change initiatives around the world.  Former US president Bill Clinton gave his support to the initiative at a launch in New York yesterday and urged the 120 executives and local dignitaries who attended to seize the economic opportunities provided by climate change initiatives as a way of stimulating growth and saving the planet.

Ireland’s first ever environmental foundation set up by a private company got a high level and passionate endorsement yesterday from former US president Bill Clinton at a ceremony in New York.  Mr Clinton, a major campaigner on climate change, told guests of NTR Plc, which is setting up the foundation, that only economic arguments will ultimately win the day on the climate change debate. He was speaking at the University Club in Manhattan.

Ethanol Producers Rise Sharply : February 22 2010

Shares of ethanol producers rose sharply after one of the larger producers, Green Plains Renewable Energy Inc., reported a bullish fourth quarter and said industry trends looked positive for 2010.  Green Plains shares shot up 17% to $16.61 in recent trading, after earlier rising to $16.79, the highest the stock has traded since September 2007. More than a million shares had changed hands roughly midway through the trading day, more than 10 times the typical volume for the stock.

Green Plains Soars On Profit From More Ethanol Sales : February 22 2010

Green Plains Renewable Energy Inc., the fourth-largest U.S. ethanol producer, surged after reporting a fourth-quarter profit of $23.1 million as sales more than doubled.  Green Plains advanced $2.85, or 20 percent, to $16.99 in Nasdaq Stock Market composite trading, the highest price since Sept. 4, 2007. The shares have risen from $1.55 a year ago.
