NTR’s GPRE Reports Second Quarter 2010 Financial Results

NTR’s investment in the bio-ethanol sector, Green Plains Renewable Energy, Inc. (Nasdaq:GPRE) announced its financial results for the second quarter of 2010. Net income attributable to Green Plains was $8.7 million, or $0.27 per diluted share, compared to net income of $0.6 million, or $0.03 per diluted share, for the same period of 2009. Revenues were $453.4 million for the second quarter of 2010 compared to $284.7 million for the same period of 2009.

Sale of Greenstar UK Releases Strong Value for NTR Shareholders

NTR plc, the international renewable energy group, today announced the proposed sale of its UK based sustainable waste management business, Greenstar UK, to Montagu Private Equity (“Montagu”) and Global Infrastructure Partners (“GIP”), the controlling shareholders of Biffa, for a gross consideration of £135m (circa €162m; $194m).

An Taoiseach, Mr Brian Cowen, TD, will open the final section of the M8 Dublin to Cork motorway today (28th May 2010). The new wishbone-shaped 41km M7/M8 Portlaoise to Cullahill / Castletown PPP Motorway Scheme, costing €491 million, was completed four months ahead of schedule in a PPP partnership between the National Roads Authority and Celtic Roads Group (Portlaoise) Ltd.

NTR’s North American based sustainable waste management business, Greenstar North America, announced today that it has officially opened its Des Moines Single Stream Recycling Facility. The facility utilizes advanced technology to provide highly automated sorting and processing capabilities with capacity per hour increasing by five times over the previous system.
NTR Appoints Company Secretary

NTR plc, the international renewable energy group, today announced that Caroline Bergin has been appointed as Company Secretary and Legal Advisor to the Group, commencing July 2010. Caroline will succeed Eamon Bolger, who will retire in July following eight years of service.

NTR’s investment in the bio-ethanol sector, Green Plains Renewable Energy, Inc. (NASDAQ: GPRE) announced its financial results for the first quarter of 2010. Net income attributable to Green Plains was $15.6 million, or $0.58 per diluted share, compared to a net loss of $9.3 million, or $(0.38) per share, for the same period of 2009. Revenues were $426.5 million for the first quarter of 2010, compared to revenues of $221.1 million for the same period in 2009.
Worldwide Agreement with Boeing for HCPV Solar System

NTR, the international renewable energy group, today announced that Stirling Energy Systems (SES), in which NTR has a controlling stake, and the Boeing Company have formed a strategic partnership to complete the commercialization and deployment of Boeing’s XR700 high-concentration photovoltaic (HCPV) solar power technology. Through a licensing agreement with Boeing, SES has acquired the exclusive worldwide rights to develop, manufacture and deploy the HCPV technology.
