Jim Barry - Chief Executive

Jim Barry

Jim was appointed Chief Executive of NTR plc in June 2000, having served as Assistant Chief Executive and General Manager, Development.

Prior to joining NTR plc in 1998, Jim worked with Bain and Company, a leading global management consulting firm, and in the investment banking division of Morgan Stanley International. Jim has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University College Cork and a Masters in Business Administration from the Harvard Business School.

Jim is on the Council of Patrons of Special Olympics Ireland and is a board member of The Ireland Funds. He also sits on a number of Advisory Boards related to activities in University College Cork and the Harvard Business School.

Michael Walsh - Group Finance Director

Michael Walsh

Michael was appointed Group Finance Director of NTR plc in February 2003. Prior to joining NTR plc, Michael was Group Finance Director and Company Secretary of Musgrave Group plc for ten years. Michael has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University College Cork and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1982. Michael worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers in both Dublin and London.

Michael is a non-executive director of EFMI Global Utilities and Infrastructure Funds plc and is also a member of the Council of the Institute of Directors in Ireland.

Paul Reilly - Group Controller

Paul was appointed Group Controller in April 2010.  Paul has been with the Group since June 2003. He has worked in senior finance roles at Greenstar Ireland, Irish Broadband and Bioverda as well as playing interim roles with Greenstar North America and, most recently, supporting SES-Tessera Solar.  He previously held financial positions in Communicorp (Radio Media), Messer-Eutectic Group (Industrial Welding Products) and Eagle Star (Financial Services).

Paul has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University College Dublin and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers in 1985.

Rosheen McGuckian - Group Corporate Development Director

Rosheen McGuckian

Rosheen joined NTR in September 2008 with responsibility for Group Strategy, Business Development and Corporate Affairs. Rosheen was most recently Chief Executive Officer of GE Money Ireland, the consumer finance division of General Electric. She joined GE in 2002 as Director of PR and Communications for GE Consumer Finance Europe, with particular focus on acquisitions, regulatory affairs and rebranding.

Prior to joining GE, Rosheen led the business transformation initiative for Irish utility ESB Power Generation. Before holding this role, she acted as a communications consultant for 13 years. Rosheen is a Director of the Irish Aviation Authority and holds a PhD, MA and BSc.

Rory O'Connor - Group Treasurer & Head of Corporate Finance

Rory O'Connor

Rory joined NTR in February 2004 and currently serves as Group Treasurer and Head of Corporate Finance. Rory has played a key role in NTR’s development during this time including NTR’s investment program in renewable energy and sustainable waste management, and also the $2.7bn Airtricity value realization transactions and NTR’s €488m monetization of its Westlink toll road asset.

Prior to joining NTR Rory served as Director, Strategic Planning, Elan Corporation plc where he had a key role in Elan’s $4.5bn debt structuring program in addition to a number of other strategic and corporate finance initiatives. Previously Rory was a member of the Merger, Acquisitions and Restructuring Department in the Investment Banking Division of Morgan Stanley International in London.

Rory has studied at Harvard Business School (AMP), and holds an MBA from INSEAD and a B.Comm. (Intl.) from University College Dublin.

Michael McNicholas - Chief Operating Officer

Michael was appointed Chief Operating Officer of NTR plc in February 2010.  As COO, Michael provides broad operational leadership across the Group’s businesses with a particular focus on NTR’s renewable energy portfolio (solar, wind and ethanol). 

Prior to joining NTR plc, Michael was Director of ESB Energy International, the international investment arm of the Irish energy company.  Michael brings over 25 years of experience in the Irish and International energy industry where he has held senior positions with responsibility for general management, delivery of major capital projects , funding, investing in international energy projects, managing regulatory environments and competing in open energy markets.

He was first appointed Executive Director of utility ESB in July 2002 with responsibility for managing the transition of ESB’s Generation and Customer Retail businesses to ensure they operated successfully in a deregulated market.  In 2005, Michael was appointed CEO of ESB International where he led the development and investment activities in energy projects.  Subsequently he was given responsibility for ESB’s full Generation and International business activities. 

Michael has a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) degree from University College Galway, a Diploma in Computer Studies from Trinity College, Dublin and is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.

Anna Pringle - Group Strategic HR Director

Anna Pringle

Anna joined NTR plc in June 2008. Prior to joining NTR, Anna was Head of People & Organisation Capability for Microsoft International and HR Director for Microsoft Ireland. Anna has also held senior HR and leadership development roles with Bank of America in the U.S., most recently as head of HR for the Consumer Products Division, based in Charlotte, NC. Anna began her career with a New York City HR consulting firm, specialising in organisation development and leadership.

She holds a B.A. in Communications from Dublin City University and an M.Sc. in Human Resource Management from the Centre for Labour Market Studies at University of Leicester.

Ian Simington - Chief Executive NTR Solar Division

Ian Simington

Ian Simington was appointed Chief Executive NTR Solar Division in January 2009, having served as Group Development Director since March 2007. Prior to joining NTR, he worked as a management consultant with McKinsey & Company in Boston, London and Dublin. Ian is a Civil Engineer and spent his early career in general contracting, before completing his Masters in Business Administration at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Ian is also a Director of Headstrong, The National Centre for Youth Mental Health.

Mike Wynne - CEO Recycling Division

Mike Wynne

Mike joined NTR in 2001 as CEO of Greenstar Ireland and was subsequently involved in the development of all Greenstar Group businesses in Ireland, the UK and North America. In 2009, Mike was appointed Chief Executive of NTR’s Recycling Division with responsibility for the development of all three Greenstar businesses. In addition, Mike is Chair of the Greenstar Boards, with particular responsibility for providing management support and oversight of activities across the three businesses.

Prior to NTR, Mike spent many years at Board level in a number of UK businesses, including Chief Executive of Waste Management Inc’s UK and Ireland businesses.

Caroline Bergin - Group Company Secretary & Legal Advisor

Caroline Bergin

Caroline Bergin joined NTR plc as Group Company Secretary & Legal Advisor in July 2010.  Prior to taking up this position, Caroline was Company Secretary at Greencore Group, an Irish-headquartered and publicly traded convenience foods company.  Caroline began her career practicing law with A&L Goodbody, before joining Greencore in 1991, and was appointed Greencore Group Company Secretary in 2002.  A qualified lawyer and highly experienced company secretary, Caroline brings extensive experience, having been Company Secretary to multiple subsidiaries in Ireland, the UK and the US.
