NTR’s Tessera Solar North America Appoints Global Energy Executive As Chief Operations Officer

August 05 2009

NTR’s Tessera Solar North America has appointed Tony Dorazio as Chief Operations Officer (COO). Tony has more than 28 years experience in the global energy industry building, managing and operating a wide variety of power facilities including wind, coal and gas plants. As COO, he will be responsible for the engineering, procurement, construction management and asset operations of Tessera’s solar power plants in North America.

“We are delighted to have a proven energy leader like Tony join our team. Tony is joining us at a critical time as Tessera Solar prepares to break ground on its first plant next month,” said Tessera Solar North America CEO Bob Lukefahr. “Beginning next year, we will break ground on the largest solar build program in US history with a target to complete over 400 megawatts of new plants by the end of 2011. Tony is the kind of proven and experienced executive that gives our customers, our investors and our partners the confidence that we can deliver on this ambitious program.”

“I am looking forward to commercializing the new SunCatcher technology and helping to make truly world-scale solar power a reality,” said Tony Dorazio. “There were two main reasons I decided to join Tessera Solar: first, this is proven technology that is the most cost effective solar solution available, and second, the team that has been assembled to make this a reality is second to none.”

Most recently Tony worked with BP Alternative Energy as the senior vice president EPC and asset management, and vice president of wind development in the United States and Europe/Asia markets.  Prior to BP, Tony was the vice president of operations for Vestas – American Wind Technology where he directed all aspects of the company’s projects, service and operations for the world’s largest and leading manufacturer of wind turbines.
