NTR’s Greenstar UK Commences Work On Four New Contracts

October 13 2009

Contracts will see 70,000 tonnes of recyclables being processed annually

NTR plc, the international renewable energy group, announces today that its recycling-led waste management company, Greenstar UK, has started work on four new contracts to process at least 70,000 tonnes of recyclables annually, a figure that could rise to nearly 120,000 tonnes a year. The contracts were secured with the North London Waste Authority (NLWA), Enfield Council, Coventry City Council and the waste disposal contractor servicing Hull City Council.

Under the NLWA and Enfield Council contracts, recyclables will be sent to Greenstar’s Atlas facility at Edmonton before being sent for processing at its Aldridge ‘super MRF’ in the West Midlands. Once Atlas is fitted out as a MRF, the recyclables will be processed there for resale. In total, these contracts will generate in excess of 36,000 tonnes of recyclables, which accounts for 14% of Atlas’ total capacity once fully operational.

Coventry City Council and WRG, the waste contractor serving Hull City Council, will send their recyclables directly to Greenstar’s Aldridge facility for processing and sale to reprocessors and manufacturers.
