NTR Expands Recycling Business In UK To Open One Of The UK's Largest Recycling Facilities
September 24 2007
NTR plc’s UK based recycling led waste management company, Greenstar UK, is pleased to announce that it is investing STG£7 million in the development of one of the UK’s largest materials recycling facilities (MRF), which will open in Aldridge, North of Birmingham early next year. When fully operational the new plant will employ approximately fifty staff.
Jim Barry, Chief Executive of NTR said: “Today’s announcement by Greenstar UK further demonstrates NTR’s commitment to the renewable energy and sustainable waste management sectors across the globe. Greenstar UK is already one of the leading waste recycling businesses in the UK, while recent acquisition announcements by our US firm, Greenstar North America, are evidence of NTR’s increasingly international position.”
Ian Wakelin, Managing Director of Greenstar UK commented: “The UK has a real deficit in recycling infrastructure, particularly in the Birmingham area, and Greenstar UK is addressing this need. The Aldridge Plant will utilise the best technology and equipment available in the world and will eventually have the capacity to handle a quarter of a million tonnes of recyclable materials per annum.”

This impact has become a major challenge to the global economy and is driving changes in both commercial and governmental policies. Due to this, NTR’s strategy over the coming years is to focus on becoming the leading international developer and operator of sustainable solutions in renewable energy and recycling-led waste management.
