NTR’s Greenstar Announces First Single Stream Recycling Facility in Houston, Texas
Dublin, 20th December 2010: NTR plc, the international renewable energy group, today announces that its North American sustainable waste management business, Greenstar Recycling, has officially opened the first single stream recycling facility in Houston, Texas. Single stream is an innovation in recycling that allows participants to combine all recyclables into one bin, greatly increasing the convenience to participating households and businesses. Greenstar has invested $7 million in upgrading to single stream recycling.
Greenstar has helped cities across Texas increase their recycling rates with the convenience of single stream - 300% in Dallas, 200% in San Antonio and 75% in Austin. Houston is now poised for growth and Greenstar expects recycling rates to increase now that single stream is available for business, residential subdivisions and municipalities.
